The Kitchens Law Firm has been providing exceptional legal service to the people, businesses, and churches of North Louisiana since 1926 and has maintained a well-earned reputation as one of the most widely respected law firms in the region and beyond.

Headquartered in Minden since its founding, the firm has produced a Louisiana Governor, long-serving judges of our state district and appellate courts, and leading attorneys known for their integrity, expertise, and commitment to excellence.

The firm, which is approaching its 90th year, currently serves clients in a variety of areas from two
office locations that includes senior statesmen of the Louisiana legal community, nationally
known litigators, and an experienced and dedicated legal staff. 

Firm Leadership

Graydon K. Kitchens, Jr.

Judge Graydon K. Kitchens, Jr., received his undergraduate degree from LSU in 1958 and served two years in the United States Army. After graduating LSU law school in 1964, where he served as president of his class, Graydon became a law clerk for Judge Ben Dawkins of the Federal court in the Western District of Louisiana. Following his tenure as law clerk, he joined his father Graydon K. Kitchens, Sr. and formed the practice Kitchens and Kitchens.

Paul E. Kitchens

Paul Kitchens is the Senior Partner in the Kitchens Law Firm. He obtained his undergraduate degree and subsequent law degree from LSU in 1970. He practiced law in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps in Fort Benning, Georgia from 1971 to 1975 and was recognized as a senior trial attorney. He then began his civil practice with the Kitchens Law Firm in 1975, joining his father (now deceased) and brother, retired Judge Graydon K. Kitchens, Jr., and subsequently his nephew, Gray Kitchens.

Graydon K. Kitchens, III

Graydon K. Kitchens, III (“Gray”) serves as the Managing Partner of Kitchens Law Firm. He graduated from the University of Mississippi Law School in 1989, after obtaining his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in 1987. He served as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association House of Delegates
(1991-95). He also served as President (1995), Vice President (1993) and Secretary-Treasurer (1991) of the Webster Parish Bar Association. He has served on the board of the South Webster Chamber of Commerce, the Minden Lions’ Club, and as Chairman of the Board and Senior Attorney for
Freedom Guard, Inc. Gray has been practicing at the family firm with his father, Graydon, Jr., and his uncle, Paul, since
1990.

Richard R. Ray

Richard graduated with his law degree from Loyola, New Orleans in 1999. Prior to law school, he obtained his undergraduate degree from LSUS in Political Science after graduating from Airline High School in Bossier City. Richard is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in Louisiana.

P. Nelson Smith

Nelson graduated with his law degree from Ole Miss in 1990. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Ole Miss as well, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, minoring in Chemistry, Biology, English and German. He is admitted to practice law in both Mississippi and Louisiana.
