Graydon K. Kitchens Jr.


Judge Graydon K. Kitchens, Jr., received his undergraduate degree from LSU in 1958 and served two
years in the United States Army. After graduating LSU law school in 1964, where he served as president of his class, Graydon became a law clerk for Judge Ben Dawkins of the Federal court in the Western District of Louisiana. Following his tenure as law clerk, he joined his father Graydon K. Kitchens, Sr. and formed the practice Kitchens and Kitchens.

In 1976 Graydon was elected Minden City Judge, serving until 1978 when he was elected Judge of the
26 th Judicial District, serving until 1997, and holding the position of Chief Judge from 1988 until 1996.
Upon retirement from the judiciary, Judge Kitchens returned to the Kitchens’ family practice, where hecontinues with specialties in estate planning, successions, business law and real estate. Graydon
currently also serves as an Assistant District Attorney for Webster Parish.

Judge Kitchens has received many awards: Minden’s Young Man of the year in 1971, Man of the Year in
1983, Louisiana Bar Foundation Jurist of the Year in 1995, and a member of the Louisiana Judiciary
Commission and chairman from 1991-1992, to name a few. Well known for his integrity and
commitment to his clients, he has served as mediator (via MAPS) to resolve all manner of legal disputes, and still serves as an Attorney-Chairman for medical malpractice.

Graydon is married to the former Roberta Carroll of Baton Rouge. They have three children and six
grandchildren. Judge Kitchens is very invested in and cares deeply for the health and prosperity of his
community, having served as chairman of the Board of Governors of Minden Medical Center. He and
Roberta attend First Baptist Church where he has taught Sunday School for over 50 years, served as
chairman of the deacons, as well as chairman of several major committees. Judge Kitchens is well
known as an avid LSU sports fan and great storyteller!
